Facebook Like button not working on Firefox

If you're using Firefox on a Macintosh you may find that clicking on a Facebook Like button results in a pop-up window opening and closing in an infinite loop.

Some people are reporting this as a bug, and maybe it is as the Like button functions normally using Firefox on a PC. And surely the developers of Firefox didn't set out to create infinite loops. That said, the problem and solution is all about third-party cookies. The implementation of Firefox on a Macintosh disables third-party cookies by default. And maybe that's a good idea: to understand the risk, see Wikipedia's article on Privacy and third-party cookies.

Hence, to get the Facebook Like button to work on Firebox on a Macintosh:

1. Select 'Preferences...' from the Firefox menu
2. Select the 'Privacy' tab
3. Ensure there is a tick next to 'Accept third party cookies

    1. This problem is not limited to Mac users. It happens on my Dell in Firefox.

    2. Same with fresh Firefox 5 on my Windows 7 PC. I'm sure gazillions of FF fellows out there are having the same problem. Mozilla hear us!
